TD-SCDMA Update

- According to Sina News, China Mobile plans to release TD-SCDMA mobile phone numbers on a limited scale in Qinhuangdao starting in September 2007. Meanwhile, the deployment of some 300 TD-SCDMA base stations have reportedly been completed in Qinhuangdao, mainly covering restaurants, travel resorts, and hotels. It is estimated that approximately 450,000 TD-SCDMA subscribers can be served by the network.

- Chinese Datang announced on August 7 that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Ericsson, whereby Ericsson will be granted access to Datang's TD-SCDMA platform. Under the agreement, Datang will assist Ericsson in developing and testing TD-SCDMA products, including mobile phones and related software.
